2stroke engine oil
The first photo is 2t engine and the second is 4t engine. Take a look within the “Head” side, 2t has simpler model rather than 4t. Because in 4t there is a complicated valve inside the head, that’s why the head looks bigger in 4t. In the 2t the head is really simple, because the valve located in the block side. The mechanism are also simpler rather than valve in 2t.
Motorcycle engine decided into two types, 2 stroke and 4 stroke. What is 2 stroke and 4 stroke?
2 stroke : A two-stroke engine is an internal combustion engine that completes the thermodynamic cycle in two movements of the piston. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-stroke_engine)
4 stroke : an internal combustion engine in which the piston completes four separate strokes—intake, compression, power, and exhaust—during two separate revolutions of the engine’s crankshaft, and one single thermodynamic cycle. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-stroke_engine)
the simple way to understand are,
in 2 stroke, the piston moving 2 times (up and down (1), up and down (2)) to produce the output power.
in 4 stroke, the piston moving 4 times (up and down 4x) to produce the output power.
Most of first generation motorcycle only provided with 2 strokes engine. as the times goes by, the number of 2 stroke were decreasing as the issue of global warming. but until now, some people are prefer 2 stroke rather than 4 stroke.
4T engine oil and oil for 2T engine (Crankcase)
After you read the brief explanation above, I am going to tell you about the main part what we must concern about our motorcycle.
lubrication is really important for the machine, different type of machine has different treatment. Here is the explanation,
As a motorcycle user, you should know about this.
In 2T engine, don’t be late to refill the 2stroke oil’s tank or if your bike didn’t provide the oil tank, don’t forget to mix it up (2stroke oil) with the gasoline every time you refill your gas.
In 4T engine, change your engine oil periodically!
Two explanation above is to prevent our motorcycle getting stuck. Because as you know all of the component in the machine are metals, so these are really important, if not your bike will be broken and you expense more money to change the broken material.
in 2T, the engine oil should changed periodically, but it will last longer than in 4T. Means if in 4T you change your oil every 2 months, in 2T you can change your oil every 6 months. But remember, do some check every month to your engine oil to check the oil’s level and oil’s condition (the colour of the oil, is it getting darker or not)
now we talk about the POWER!!!!!!
Power in 2stroke is more powerful rather than 4stroke. Because 2stroke machines are really simple in the component (PWR - Power to Weigh Ratio), especially in the “head” part.
The typical 2stroke are really powerful in acceleration, but it has almost the same top speed if compared with 4stroke.
In my opinion (as the 2stroke lover. hahaha), 2stroke is the best! the best feeling is when you ride your 2stroke racing engine and it sounds “BRAAAAAPPP” and it smells really delicious (especially you are using racing 2t oil).
but if you are speed lover or 2 stroke lover, which are addicted to acceleration, I would prefer to you to try Special Engine (SE), Special Engine are MX engine or Motorcross Engine. For me it’s the best 4stroke, because you will hear really different “sounds” that came from high compression within the engine. Normal bike has under 10 compression level, but in the SE Engine it has more than 10, around 1:13
Hello my name is Trisna Dimas, I am a student of private University located in Tangerang, Indonesia and now I am still doing my study in Germany. Within this blog, I want to let you know basic knowledge about your Motorcycle especially the engine part (surely, you all know about the other such as how to ride your motorcycle :)). Because in my opinion, nowadays tons of people just ride their bike, only for style, don’t know anything about their motorcycle.
So because my hobby is Automotive, I will present my knowledge for you, and I really open to take your input to improve my knowledge, since I am only 21 years old :)
